Dubai is situated on the eastern shore of the Arabian Peninsula at the southwest edge of the Arabian Gulf. It is the second largest emirate within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), bordered by Abu Dhabi to the south, Sharjah to the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman to the southeast.
The emirate of Dubai spans 4,114 square kilometers. Within this emirate, the city of Dubai occupies roughly 35 square kilometers, but this area is projected to double with the development of five artificial islands and ongoing construction in the desert.The emirate has the highest population density in the United Arab Emirates. Based on the 2019 census, Dubai’s population was estimated to be 3,295,334.Expatriates constituted approximately 71 percent of the population.
