On the second day of your Jordan tour, we will head north to Jerash after breakfast. Jerash is an ancient city situated in the foothills of the mountain of Gilead, known for its Roman architecture. It is one of the largest and best-preserved sites of Roman architecture outside of Italy. The grandeur of Jerash can be seen in its colonnaded street, Oval Plaza, Nymphaeum, and Temple of Artemis. After exploring Jerash, we will drive to the Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on earth and known for its mineral-rich waters with medicinal properties. The Dead Sea has become a popular health spa destination, and the mineral concentration in the mud is used for therapeutic and beauty treatments. Queen Cleopatra and Sheba were believed to have recognized the benefits of the Dead Sea. Due to its high salinity, no forms of life can survive in the water, hence the name the Dead Sea. Floating in the water is extremely easy. Make sure to enjoy a swim and relax in the mud before returning to Amman for the night.
